We’ve got the sun to warm the morning
We’ve got the moon to light the night
We’ve got cans of chicken livers
When we need a little bite
We’ve got baskets full of chew toys
To help the time elapse
What ain’t we got?
We aint’ got naps.
We get dragged off to the dog park
We get gussied up for shows
We get waked up for no reason
Just when we’ve begun to doze
We get dragged off on a road trip
To visit some old bore
What don’t we get?
Need I say more?
No sooner do we settle in for a siesta
Than some human drags us off to what he considers a fiesta
There is nothing like a nap
Nothing you can name
Might as well just shut your trap
And just scrap everything but a nap
There are no joys like a nap
There are no toys like a nap
And nothing feels like a nap
And nothing heals like a nap
Nothing seems like a nap
Or gives good dreams like a nap
So come, fellow canines, stand for our right
To snooze when we choose and embrace our delight
In daily, regular, lazy, luxurious naps.
